Save the date for the first Marine Biotechnology ERA-NET Stakeholder Meeting

WAVES OF INNOVATION - Integrating National Efforts to Build the Future of Marine Biotechnology is a chance to influence the future of the Marine Biotechnology ERA-NET (ERA-MBT) as it seeks to expand and reinforce the network of researchers, industry, policy makers and funding agencies to support the development of European marine biotechnology. The first stakeholder meeting of the Marine Biotechnology ERA-NET  takes place in Lisbon, Portugal on 28th and 29th October 2014. This interactive event is open to scientists, companies, policy makers/advisors and other key individuals involved in or interested in furthering European Marine Biotechnology research and development. Though the meeting is free of charge, participants will have to cover their own travel and subsistence costs.

The event will run from 9:00 to 17:00 on 28th October and from 9:00 to 13:00 on 29th October and comprises 3 sessions:

Session I: State of the Art of Marine Biotechnology. The European Commission and the ERA-MBT consortium will present their perspective on marine biotechnology research. 

Session II: Where do we go? Three parallel sessions will provide participants with the opportunity to discuss marine biotechnology challenges, barriers and opportunities from the perspective of Academia, Industry and external collaboration.

Session III: Role of Marine Biotechnology ERA-NET. This session will highlight some of the main activities that are planned in the four-year project, including how the strategic advice/feedback from Session II and other fora will be used to inform new research calls. This session will also address the structure and content of the first call.

Time will be available during the meeting for networking and partnering for project collaboration.

Travel : Lisbon Portela Airport, is located near the city centre. You can easily reach Olissippo Oriente Hotel (3 Km) by taxi (5 minutes, around €10) or you can take the subway from the airport station: red line - direction São Sebastião - to Oriente station (ticket €1.9 can be purchased in automated machines). You can walk from Oriente station to Olissippo Hotel, Av. Dom João II, nº32 (0.4 Km) in just 5 minutes.
