How to get to the Research Council

The Research Council of Norway is located at Drammensveien 288 in Oslo, at Sollerudstranda by the Lysaker river. From the train or bus, get off at Lysaker Station. When driving, exit at Lysaker and follow the signs to Sollerudstranda.

The street address is Drammensveien 288, Lysaker [show on map]. The building is centrally located between the Oslo fjord and the E18 motorway.

Visitors can travel to Lysaker Station by train, Flytoget (airport train) or bus. The train trip from Oslo S (Oslo Central Station) takes nine minutes. Trains run seven times an hour in both directions. The airport train departs three times an hour.

The Airport express (Flytoget) only allows travels to and from the airport. For traveling directly to RCN at Lysaker choose the airport train with destination Drammen, it leaves every 20 minutes.

NSB also offers trains to and from Oslo Airport, they also have 3 trains an hour for Lysaker, but at irregular intervals. NSB charges half the price of Flytoget, provided the ticket is bought prior to boarding. The following trains from Oslo Airport stop at Lysaker: R10 Drammen; R11 Skien; L12 Kongsberg.

For travel between RCN at Lysaker and the hotel at Oslo S (central station) (and return) you can either travel with train (NSB) or bus (Ruter). NSB and Ruter have a ticket cooperation in the Oslo region.

You can search for both trains and busses in this journey planner

Names of stops: Oslo Lufthavn (Oslo Airport); Lysaker/Lysaker stasjon (RCN); Oslo S/Oslo Sentralstasjon (Oslo Central Station)

Local transportation within Oslo is NOK 33 for single journeys (valid both for Ruter and NSB), and can be bought at vending machines an in kiosks.

From Lysaker Station it is a five-minute walk to Drammensveien 288.

There are also good bicycle paths directly to the building.

If you arrive in Lysaker by train, it is a five-minute walk to the Research Council. Exit the station building on the side where the bus stops are, then walk straight ahead towards the river. Take the path to the right under the E18 motorway and continue across the street, then to the left (east) and over the bridge on the fjord side of the E18 motorway.

The Research Council shares the building with other organisations and companies. The reception area is immediately inside the main entrance. Here you can register as a visitor and get help to contact the person you are meeting or find the correct meeting room.
